We believe there is more to life than academic success. We actively uphold a balanced approach to education; one that develops students to excel both inside and outside the classroom. We believe that learning is a lifelong process that occurs both in and out of the classroom.
Our aim is to have a school environment where students and staff work together with a spirit of mutual understanding and with the minimum conflicts.
Positive reinforcement is the cornerstone of our school’s code of behaviour and discipline. Students are encouraged to act responsibly and respectfully towards all members of our school community with the aim being to create and nurture a climate where all students act positively and considerately, with high standards of behaviour at all times.
Our school rules have been clearly defined to ensure common understanding by students, teachers and parents and must be respected by all members of our school community.
We prepare students for the new and emerging challenges of the 21st century. Life at SKPS and SMPS includes just about everything that you do during your years here as a student from academics to sports, from drama to travel. Each child is encouraged to take part in co-curricular activities, enabling him to spread his wings wider. We offer a diverse range of activities, from experiential learning programs to numerous athletics endeavors, arts experiences, and student activities and clubs.
Four major domains of talent development laid out by the SKPS and SMPS are:
Intellectual Abilities: Encompassing the areas of language, mathematics and science, intellectual ability development including reading, writing and oral communication, traditional and applied mathematics, space programs, robotics, inventions, forensic skills and other inspiring learning projects.
Creative Abilities: Covering confidence building and mind-expanding project areas such as Indian and world vocal and instrumental music, dance, photography, painting and sculpture.
Physical and Mental Abilities: Offering a variety of physical and mental activities for a healthy young mind and body including yoga, athletics and team sports.

The Pre-primary program is a combination of traditional learning and Montessori methodology. The program includes visual & performing arts, rhymes, sand play and storytelling through puppet shows. The Primary level program is an activity-based learning program that focuses on a multiple intelligent approach. In Middle school, students are initiated into formal instructions through interactive techniques. Lessons and activities go hand-in-hand, and the activities conducted help students to gain confidence and realize their potential in various fields.
We encourage students from an early age to take responsibility for their community. Students contribute to decision-making in the school through student councils. Activities involving the wider community generally focus on developing a sense of responsibility for the common good.
The school runs a house system. Every student belongs to one of four houses. Within their houses, students take positions of responsibility, compete against other houses in sport and music and work towards common goals in a range of areas.
Thoughtful and motivated counselors and teachers work with students and their families to ensure that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential at SKPS and SMPS.
At School, the student becomes engrossed in the basic knowledge about the subjects such as Math, English, Science, Social Science, Computers, Drawing, Moral Science and the likes. He/She also gets an opportunity to take part in extra and co-curricular activities that help in the all-round development of his/her personality.
Our School provides training in music, Karate and Yoga, which the children have freedom to choose from. They help students from across communities to bond and provide the perfect nutriment for the mind, body and soul.
Schools’ Art and Craft program connects creativity and innovation at an early stage of children’s development. The program is designed to build skills, develop competencies and provide resources that support creative learning for our students. Most importantly, it gives children the chance to use their imagination.
Drawing, Painting, Craft, Origami, Photography, Creative writing and Calligraphy are some of the activities included in the program.
SMPS has a host of clubs. These clubs cater to varied interests such as public speaking and debating, writing, event management, editing and journalism, photo journalism and scientific skills.
Library is the place where the world is confined within walls. The Library of our school is equipped with quality books required to enhance the knowledge base of our students. We encourage them to ask questions and also motivate them to look for the answers.
The SMPS Social Awareness Programs aim to blend a comprehensive classroom teaching program with a variety of community-oriented activities. This provides students with abundant opportunities for enriching personal growth, enhanced civic awareness, and a progressive global outlook. Classroom teaching focuses on diverse topics such as climate change, child labour, tribal culture, animal rights, deforestation and women’s issues through seminars and video presentations. The emphasis is on sustainability and empowerment. Students are encouraged to develop an approach of mutual and reciprocal interaction with the community.
Sports plays an integral part in the growth and development of a child. Be it physical or emotional, sports is an extension of good educational program. Sports teach persistence, patience and practice, which are very important life lessons. Keeping this in mind, we offer a variety of sports for children to engage in.
The Arts Fest and Sports Meet are organized to assess individual talent of the students and to inculcate a spirit of healthy competition in children to reach higher realms of achievement.
Festivals like Kerala Piravi, Onam, Christmas and Eid are celebrated in our school and all our students participate wholeheartedly. Important days such as Independence Day, Republic Day, Environment Day, Anti-Narcotic Day, Reading Day, Yoga Day are also celebrated to highlight, create awareness, and sensitize our students about the relevance of these days.
Excursions are the means of learning beyond the walls of the classrooms and provide an in-depth knowledge about the things around us. From science to social sciences to environmental studies, these excursions are ways to concrete the concepts for the students. Shermount Public School organizes annual excursions for the students and organizes planned visits to various places to enrich the students’ minds.
